What make this public space look ultra modern are the bright design and the design of the interior. When designing on the interior design there aren’t practically much you can do and it’s because somehow we’re stuck in a dumb daze without even knowing why. But not with this metro station located in Barcelona where the original station was built in 1968. It’s located in the district of Port Vell, and it’s absolutely stunning how Eduardo Gutierrez and Jordi Fernandez Rio have configure and change the way the classical public station space into such an ultra modern public space.
What I like best is the ceiling concept. Here they decided to use dark color for the ceiling where the lamps are placed in a shuffle order which makes it quite artistic. The dark color also used to match with the white reflection created by the wall. You will see red mosaic wall all the way along hall way towards the station. The overall feel is clean and open and this is definitely different than the old station. Check at ON-A Architect for further information on materials being used.
