he honor of the previous house with “White U”, this house was named almost similar. Toyo Ito named this house White O. White O is located in an area slightly northeast oriented and has attractive views in the same direction. The architectural design intends to make a dynamic use throughout the site taking advantage of the special qualities created by the slope of the terrain.
The site and house are composed together as one continuous space, flowing like a spiral motion path and focused on a partially fenced yard. The house stands about by the natural line of the slope to attract visitors to the rear of the site. In the interior garden, the slope becomes continuous with the house floor, flowing around and up the private areas. After the entrance is the spacious living room leading to the adjacent dining area. Ascending a gentle ramp that wraps around the interior garden, the interior of the house makes a smooth transition to a private area containing bedrooms.
Floating on the ground, these spaces have complete privacy. Up the slope towards the rear of the site, entering the house and continued moving through the interior, the house and the site are made through a smooth progression of indoor and outdoor spaces with references and guidelines to change gradually.
