Early life
Kimberley Joseph was born in 1973 to Joe and Wendy Joseph in Vancouver, British Columbia. Three years later her family moved to Gold Coast, Queensland, where she attended St Hilda's School for nine years. She then spent another four years at school in Montreux, Switzerland. She began a degree in Arts and Commerce at Bond University but did not complete it, having moved on to her career in acting.
Career
Joseph's first speaking role was in the soap opera Paradise Beach playing Cassie Barsby. From that, she went on to a role in Home and Away as Joanne Brennan guest spots in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
In 1995 she co-hosted the Australian domestic Gladiators as well as all three "Ashes" specials and an edition of International Gladiators.
Four years later she moved to New York to study at the Atlantic Theater Company (where her future Lost co-star Matthew Fox also attended). Joseph then moved to Los Angeles to "get away from that soap-star/TV presenter image and do some proper acting". While there she secured an audition in the UK for Cold Feet, a programme she knew nothing about. She played Jo Ellison for the final two series, boosting her profile in Britain. Following the end of Cold Feet in 2003, Joseph received her American Green Card and moved back to Los Angeles.

In 2004 she appeared as a flight attendant in the pilot of the ABC series Lost (where she spoke the first lines of the series). Her character was supposed to have died in the pilot episode, but she was liked by the producers so much that she was kept alive. She returned at the beginning of the second season, when it was revealed that she had survived the crash along with other passengers from the tail section of the plane. It was at this point that Joseph's character was given the name, Cindy Chandler. She appeared in several episodes, playing a large role in the acclaimed[citation needed] episode "The Other 48 Days" before her character disappeared in the episode "Abandoned". She is scheduled to reappear in the third season and Joseph featured in trailers for this series throughout January and February 2007.
Although a producer suggested she not go changing too much after filming the first episode, Joseph had her hair cut. When she came back to film season 2 she was supposed to have been on the island for 50 days and yet her hair was shorter because she had cut it in the interim. Joseph was then required to wear a Rambo scarf around her head, which "just looked ridiculous."

Personal life
In 2003, Joseph was embroiled in tabloid allegations that she had an affair with Cold Feet co-star James Nesbitt.. She is currently single.[citation needed]
Joseph lives in LA with the dog that she rescued. Kimberley is fluent in Spanish and French. She studied acting at New York's prestigious Alantic Theater Company, which was co-founded by William H. Macy and graduates also include Felicity Huffman, Jessica Alba, and Matthew Fox. Originally born in Vancouver but moved with her family at the age of 3. Studied in Switzerland, she to be an accomplished ballet dancer.
Joseph has been involved in Aid International projects highlighting the effects of Soviet nuclear testing. In 2003 she visited Semey, Kazakhstan, where she photographed victims of radiation poisoning. The photographs were displayed in Scottish Parliament building in 2004.
